To become CPIM certified, One must pass two computer-based examinations. They are
CPIM Part 1 and CPIM Part 2. APICS exams are delivered via computer-based testing at Pearson VUE test centers, which are located around the world.
CPIM Part one examination contains 150 questions and the duration of the examination is 3.5 hours. The same is applicable to CPIM Part Two as well. CPIM part two examination contains 150 questions and the duration of the examination is 3.5 hours. Both the examinations are of the objective type or multiple choice type. One has to select the most appropriate answer. There are no negative marks.
For both the examinations, the score range is 200 to 350. One need to score 300 and above to secure a pass in the examination. One need to secure a pass in both the examinations that are CPIM part-1 and CPIM part-2 within in three years to attain the CPIM credential.

Roughly about 100 hours of preparation are required for each of the parts. Also, it is recommended to start with CPIM Part-1 and then CPIM Part-2. It is a two-step process

CPIM part-1 contains a single module titled Basics of Supply Chain Management. CPIM part-2 contains four modules. They are Strategic Management of Resources, Master Planning of Resources, Detailed Scheduling and Planning and Execution and Control of Operations.
Once you attain the CPIM credential on passing both CPIM part-1 and CPIM part-2, you need to maintain the certification status. On completion of every 5 years, you need to submit 75 professional development points to APICS to maintain your CPIM certification.
